SAS Radisson Edinburgh
Slap bang in the heart of it all, halfway between the castle and Holyrood Palace. The building is very mediaeval, but the hotel itself is finding its feet again after being bought by Radisson group.

Scotsman Hotel
68 rooms and suites. The former offices of the eponymous, and increasingly crappy newspaper have been transformed into a 5-star hotel which some love and some are distinctly unimpressed by!

Right in the heart of Edinburgh, The Carlton Hotel is just a few minutes walk from Waverley train station and within easy access of famous monuments and historic attractions.

Large, recently converted former University building in the heart of the Old Town. Good value, though top floor rooms with castle views are more expensive.

The Point Hotel
140 en suite rooms. This former Co-op department store has been stylishly refurbished and is now the height of contemporary chic and minimalist elegance. The suites are huge and some have jacuzzis.
