Highlights of your short break in Edinburgh

You've only two days and there's so much to do!

  1. Visit the Royals at Holyrood Palace to see Mary Queen of Scots bedroom. Open most days 9.30 to 16.00. Whilst you are there visit the Queens Gallery which is beautifully done.
  2. Do the Art with visits to the Royal Scottish Academy on Prince's Street with a fine array of masterpieces. If contemporary is more you thing then visit the National Gallery of Modern Art. You can walk or take a shuttle bus that runs between the different art galleries.
  3. Unless it is raining wander through the Botanic Gardens and whilst there definately enjoy the gallery which houses small and extremely enticing small exhibitions.
  4. Shopping in Edinburgh used to be a very poor relation to other cities. All that has changed with the new enclave around Harvey Nichols on St Andrews Square. Even dowdy old Jenners has caught the fashion bug.
  5. Enjoy the architecture. It may have the most magnificent architecture of any city in Europe.
